Responsibilities
The Research Assistant(s) will report to the Research Coordinator / Director of i3T. Responsibilities will include the following:
- Support the Research Coordinator in developing the Triennial Plan for Coordinating, Executing, and Monitoring the Cutting-Edge Applied Research Agenda in industrial development and economic transformation in alignment with the directives of the i3T Triennial Programmatic Activity Plan.
- Under the supervision of the Research Coordinator of i3T, provide support on the roll-out of the i3T’s research agenda. i3T´s agenda currently includes (but is not limited to) projects in the following themes: i. Planning for ecological energy transformation and regional integration in Latin America; ii. Public procurement tools for industrial development and creation of fiscal space; iii. New trade agreements, industrial policy, and technology transfer; iv. New analytical methods for industrial development strategies and value chain analysis; and v. Geoeconomic and biophysical analysis of critical minerals and natural resources.
- Provide support in the planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring of workshops, meetings, high-level events, and other programmatic activities that may take place worldwide.
- Under the supervision of the Research Coordinator, provide support to prepare, compile, edit, and draft rigorous reports, academic papers, and other documents for presentation and publication in strategic fora.
- Under the supervision of the Research Coordinator, and in coordination with i3T’s communications area, prepare draft content production to disseminate i3T’s research, proposals, and results using information and communication technologies, including but not limited to social media, collaborative platforms, and digital tools.
- Under the supervision of the Research Coordinator, produce draft reports on i3T´s research as required by donors and other entities to which i3T must periodically report its activities

Education and Work Experience
A minimum of 1 year of research experience in quantitative or qualitative analysis in the field of economic development equivalent to an undergraduate level. A degree is not required.
Excellent writing and editing skills in both Spanish and English, drive to learn and demonstrate commitment to i3T’s proposed research agenda.
Languages
Spanish, Portuguese, and English are the working languages of i3T. Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of Portuguese, Italian, or another language is an asset.

Special Notice
Applicants must reside in a country within Latin America or the Caribbean.
The position is set to last until December 2027, subject to a three-month review in the first year and annual evaluations thereafter.
The role may be performed remotely or from Mexico City. However, i3T will not cover relocation for candidates based outside Mexico City.
This is a consultancy contract. The successful applicant must secure all necessary tools, including a laptop, software, collaborative work platforms, and high-speed internet, by their own means. i3T will reimburse certain costs associated with maintaining a home office.
The successful candidate must present evidence of valid health insurance covering all medical expenses during their tenure with I3T.
Professional fees for consultancy services
Payments will be processed in Mexican pesos.
- Research Assistant: Up to 375,000 MXN annually (Or the equivalent of 18,000 USD annually).
i3T will cover transportation and accommodation costs for required activities within the scope of the role.
i3T will provide a one-time payment equivalent to $1000 for laptop costs and a monthly reimbursement of up to $100 for verifiable operational expenses related to home office activities.
